Black Brown College Bound Networking Summit Big Success

On Friday, February 24th as part of the Black Brown College Bound Summit, the Student Networking Reception was held at the Tampa Marriott Westside Grand Ballroom.  The guest speaker was Clinton Myles McDonald, defensive tackle for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  More than 250 young men gathered around to fellowship and network not only with the guest speaker but also with established and successful men.  BBCB invited 25 mentors to sit at the tables of the young men and discuss their perspective careers and career paths.  Every 15 minutes or so, the students rotated to a new table.  The mentors were from all walks of life, banking, business, law enforcement, military, education, real estate and many more. "It was an awe inspiring experience and I really enjoyed helping the students" said Kenny Rushing, Real Estate Mogul in Tampa.

Questions and concerns were brought to the table by inquisitive young men trying to find their way in school and in life.  The buzz in the room was harmonious and fluid.  You could see the students enjoying their interaction with the assigned mentor.  The students had a really good dose of mentorship these past few days as they also enjoyed Grammy award winning John Legend as the keynote speaker the prior day.  Two great takeaways were the students exchanged information with the mentors to stay in contact and they also stayed almost two hours beyond the end of the event as they really had a great time.  2018 is already geared up to be even better.
