Tampa Silhouettes named Southern Province Chapter of the Year

JACKSONVILLE – The Tampa Silhouettes were named Southern Province Chapter of the Year during the meeting. The Tampa Silhouettes are made up of wives and widows of members of Tampa Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Led by their president Joyce Daniels, the Silhouettes put on local projects in the community as well as assist in projects of Tampa Alumni.

“We were surprised and pleased that our Southern Province Coordinator Silhouette Brenda Beale selected our Tampa chapter to be the 2017 Silhouette Chapter of the Year,” Daniels said. “Our Silhouettes work diligently throughout the year to provide outstanding programs for the chapter and the community.”

The Silhouettes have an ongoing service project that provides books to the after school program at the Gwendolyn M. Miller Community Center. There are around 100 students who attend the center ranging from pre-kindergarten to high school. Miller was not only a member of the Tampa Silhouettes but is the Immediate Past National President. They have donated more than 3,000 books to the center.
