Tampa Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service

TAMPA – The Tampa Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. recently held a seminar stressing the importance of being prepared in case a major disaster hits the Tampa Bay community. The event was held at the First Baptist Church of Progress Village. The seminar was part of the chapter’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.

Among the speakers and information tables set up were Emergency Management Director Preston Cook, City of Tampa Fire Chief Thomas Forward, Artie Fryer from Health Care Services and William Ramos and Barbara Close of Sunshine Line transportation.

In addition to the flyers, brochures and emergency kits handed out, members of the City of Tampa and Hillsborough County emergency management team spoke and answered questions about having a plan before a disaster strikes.

“Be prepared,” Forward said. “Your quality of life is only going to be as good as your preparation you put in place.”
