Candidate Filed to Run for Hillsborough County Commission District 3

gwen myers candidateGwen Myers has a passion for helping and serving people. She has worked as a
public servant for 25 years at Hillsborough County Government. In 2013, as she
was preparing for retirement at year’s end, she had a vision to seek a seat on the
Hillsborough County Commission District 3 in 2020. Myers said the time has
come and she has filed to run for Hillsborough County Commission District 3 in
2020 in which the seat will be vacated by term limit.
Myers plans are to: empower, impact and strengthen District 3 by supporting
transportation particularly (mass transit), affordable housing, healthcare, and
environment/infrastructure. Myers was elated to be involved with the All for
Transportation Committee to help get the Sales Tax passed.

Myers currently serves as Chairperson of the Scholarship Gala Committee for the
MLK Parade Foundation, Inc. and Coordinator for her church’s (Greater Bethel)
MLK Homeless/ Community Service Day and Teen Leadership Summit. In
addition, Myers gives back to her community by serving on the following boards:
Corporation to Develop Community (CDC) of Tampa, Hillsborough County
Healthcare Advisory Board, the Mayor’s (Bob Buckhorn) African American
Advisory Council and the Salvation Army Rehabilitation Council.
Myers is a Tampa native and a graduate of Henry B. Plant High School (1972), and
Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU 1976), past President of
Gamma Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., member of
the East Tampa Community Revitalization Partnership, League of Women Voters
and the West Tampa Chamber of Commerce. At her church, she serves as Vice
Chairman of Trustee Ministry, Treasurer of Usher Ministry #2 and assist with the
Youth Ministry.

Myers stated she plans and will run this race with God leading her on this journey
with His continuous grace and mercy, character, honesty, and integrity.
Myers is married to Randolph T. Myers, Sr. and the daughter of Mrs. Dorothy
Anthony Williams and the late David Williams. Myers sisters are: Norma Gilbert,
Carolyn Williams, Rosalyn Wise and Dorothy Flowers and three adult stepchildren:

Gail Hodges, Randolph Myers, Jr. and Eric Myers, Sr.
